Sony PlayStation 2 (Fat) USB-C Power Supply Board — 15V / 3A PSU Replacement

A modern replacement for the internal power supply in a PlayStation 2 Fat. The original module sits inside the console converting mains voltage, and after two decades of heat cycling it is a common cause of a PS2 that will not power on, or that becomes unreliable once it has been running a while. This board replaces it and runs the console from a USB-C Power Delivery charger instead.

Power delivery has come a long way since these machines were engineered. A USB-C PD supply is smaller, cooler and far better regulated than anything available when the console was new — and when it eventually needs replacing, it is an off-the-shelf part rather than a hunt for a decades-old brick.

Fits The Fat PS2 — Not The Slim

This board is made for the original full-size PlayStation 2 (Fat), the model with the power supply built in and a mains lead going straight into the back. The later PS2 Slim uses an external power adapter instead, so this is not the part for that console — for a Slim, our USB-C power cable covers it with the 4.75 × 1.7 mm version.

Requires A USB-C PD Charger

The board draws 15 V at 3 A over USB-C Power Delivery, and a charger that cannot supply that exact profile will not run the console — total wattage on the box is not the measure. On our 200 W six-port charger use PD1; on the 270 W use USB-C1, C2 or C3 (C4 tops out at 15 V / 2 A). Not sure what your charger can do?
